- BACKGROUND:
-
- I just installed a CSA Derringer in my A500, and I'm now having some weird
- overscan problems. As 90% of the work I do with this machine involves video,
- this is a rather LARGE problem for me.
-
- PROBLEM:
-
- First off, except for the problem I'm about to detail, my system works quite
- well, thank you. The Derringer is a nice piece of work, and I've realized a
- big speed increase with not much moolah. However, it seems the 'ole Amy doesn't
- like overscanned custom screens anymore. When I run DPaint in overscan (STD or
- MAX, doesn't matter), approximately half the screen is black (the right half, to
- be precise). If I shift the screen over to the left, BOOM, the whole pic shows
- up as it should. The same problem has been encountered in a number of packages
- that I own, as well as PD packages. Here's another oddity, that may have
- something to do with my dilemma. ADPro just decided to include SuperHiRes in the
- list of screen modes, something that wasn't there before. Note that I do NOT
- have the ECS Denise installed.
-
- I've tried rebooting into 68000 mode and re-running these programs: no change
- whatsoever. The problem persists. However, if I remove the Derringer completely,
- and re-install the 68000, the problem disappears.
-
- CONFIGURATION:
-
- A500 with A501 1/2meg memory card
- 1meg Agnus, with 1meg of CHIP activated
- Xetec SCSI controller (updated to latest specs: not BELIEVED to be the prob)
- CSA Derringer with 25mhz 030/881 and 4meg of 32bit RAM
- OS2.04
- Rev 5 motherboard
-
- And that's about it. I've tried eliminating certain 'enhancement' programs I'm
- running (CpuBlit and the like), to no avail.
-
- The frustrating part about this is how well the Derringer works otherwise. I'm
- not even sure if it's the fault of the Derringer, but it seems strange that things
- are normal when I remove it from the system.
-
- Anyone else experience problems like this after installing an accelerator?
-
- CBM people? Any ideas?
-
- (Sorry if this is the second time this has been posted: not sure if the first
- post got out).
-
- Thanks in advance, ramblerambleramble...
