  15.     GIF is one of the standard formats on PCs. I think it's the most
  16.     popular one too, though sometimes people mutter about JPEG.
  17.     Anyway, most of the R18 pictures on bulletin boards come in GIF
  18.     format. It allows for 256 colors, and has better compression than
  19.     IFF pictures.
