  25. This file is the second in a series of 3 designed to help you get SLIP
  26. running using AmigaNOS.  The first one in the series is AmigaNOS-ask, and the
  27. next one in the series is AmigaNOS-help2.  All three are available for
  28. anonymous FTP from

  35. NOS Set-up
  36. ==========

  38. Here is a brief guide to getting AmigaNOS set up on your machine.
  39. Consult the other files to fully customize your setup.
  40.  
  41. Running NOS
  42. ===========
  43.  
  44. (1) You must edit the following files putting in your own IP address
  45.     and site name were indicated;
  46.  
  47. Domain.txt  in directory amiganos/slip
  48. nos-startup in directory amiganos/slip
  49.  
  50. Also in Nos-startup you will need to tell it what speed your modem
  51. will be logging on to the host machine:
  52.  
  53. attach asy serial.device 0 slip nos 4096 1006 38400c  <-- The c is for
  54.                                                ^          RTS/CTS
  55.                                                |
  56.                                         Use what you do in your
  57.                                         terminal program.
  58.  
  59. (3) Edit the ftpusers file in directory amiganos/slip
  60. (This is for when you logon to your NOS BBS.)
  61.  
  62. The following is your choice;
  63.  
  64. yourname : (Same as cix would be a good choice)
  65. Password : (Anything not obvious)
  66.  
  67. (If you don't want any tom, dick or fis logging on get rid of the line
  68. that says anonymous *).
  69.  
  70. (5)  In your startup-sequence put the following;
  71.  
  72. assign slip: <device>:amiganos/slip
  73. assign tcpip: <device>:amiganos/slip
  74. assign nntp: <device>:amiganos/slip/spool/articles
  75.  
  76. (6) Edit the Nos-dial file and put in your own site name and password.
  77.  
  78. (7) Copy files in amiganos/c to your c: directory.
  79.  
  80. (8)  To start simply click the icon (NOS) - it will then load and dial
  81. demon to connect.

  83. (Make sure the assign's are running i.e. you've done a reset)

  87. Q: It won't even open a window
  88. A: You need 1MB or more of memory

  90. Q: How do I log on to my own node?
  91. A: Type "telnet yoursite" or "bbs" at the nos prompt.
