- I was attempting (for the second time) to bring up a copy
- of /unix with the serial patch, so as to be able to talk
- to the serial ports faster.
-
- I used to have this working on this hardware before a disk crash
- blew away that copy of the kernel.
-
- Method: booting with Gil's enhanced diagnostic disk,
- I specify to boot from file /unix.test
- Symptoms: won't boot, I just get a dark screen.
- Counterexample: boots fine if I say "/unix"
-
- I still don't know whether the slower modem transmit speeds
- I've been getting since May are due to some pecularity
- with the Worlblazer (replaced a Trailblazer plus),
- or from the loss of the serial patch.
-
- Anyhow, I'm clueless about this. Any thoughts?
- Maybe some different device drivers or loadable device order
- has caused new problems? I'm grasping at straws here....
