- Two questions:
- 1) How do I use an external modem w/HDB uucp and with the
- telephone manger to get ATE? (See details below.)
-
- 2) How can I use ATE other than through the telephone manager.
- That is, I would like to do something like a tip command from
- shell, so that I am put in the emulator ready to talk to the
- modem - I'll let it handle the dialing.
-
-
- I would like to use an external 2400 baud modem w/MNP
- (so the RS232 would be set to 4800 baud). The modem
- seems hayes compatible (it uses AT... etc). Up to
- now I have been using the internal modem with Honey-Danber
- uucp installed, but have been running remote logins
- through the telephone manager - uucp and Uutry, etc. work
- from command lines.
-
- I tried making new entries in the telephone directory but
- it keeps complaining about /dev/tty001 unknown, even though
- the device is in /dev.
-
- I tried reinstalling HDB but that messed things up more (I said
- that both phone lines were VOICE, since the modem was on an
- RS232 port; was that correct?)
-
- Thanks for any help.
