  17. Have you tried "dir * tmpfile", followed by "!more <tmpfile"?  I don't
  18. know if NCSA's FTP permits the two-option DIR, but at least a few others
  19. (PC/IP-family and FTP SW) support it.

  21. If it's a very Unix-ish client, you might even be able to do "dir * |more".

  23. If you really, really, want to print the directory, try Ctrl-P or "dir * prn".

  25. Also try "ls -CF".  This works on many Unix-based FTP servers, but not all.
  26. It also won't work on MS-DOS, VMS, or TOPS-20 FTP servers.
