- I have found while using ethernet analyzers on Sun workstations
- that they do not report the packets from the same host that they
- are running on. For example, the command:
-
- etherfind host toadflax
-
- should report all packets TO and FROM toadflax; however, if I am
- running the analyzer on toadflax, I only see packets TO toadflax.
- None of the packets FROM toadflax are reported.
-
- Apparently a Sun cannot read the packets that it is writing to
- the network. I have two questions regarding this:
-
- 1) Is this common with most/all workstations (non-Suns)?
- 2) Is there a patch so the Sun can read it's own packets?
-
- Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
-
