- Perhaps this is in the FAQ, but I don't know where the FAQ is?
- (Is the location of the FAQ in the FAQ? :)

- Hey all...I'm quite familiar with Macs and Unix, but the two together...?
- So, I'm wiring my Macs up for Ethernet and would like to do all my
- print accounting on our SparcStation running CAP.
- A normal, "Mac" based print spooler will "capture" laser printer
- hooked up to it, and will make them inaccessible to people to print to
- except through the spooler. This is sometimes called "bypass".
- In order to make people pay for the prints they make, we need to keep
- track of the printers' usage...
-
- If I let CAP take control over my laser printers (which will be on Ethernet -
- either by themselves or through the use of an AsantePrint box), will
- CAP "control" the printers and not allow mac people to see those
- printers in their Choosers?
-
- To "capture" a printer, the spooler would change the type of the laserwriter
- from "Laserwriter" to "LaserShared", then calls itself the name of that
- printer plus the word "(Spooler)".
-
- Does CAP do this? How can I charge people using my LaserWriters?
-
- thanks for any info, I'll repost a summary if desired.
