  11. About this contract stuff, I was not doing business with IBM and a
  12. contract requires a two way situation with each side receiving some
  13. substantial consideration.  This was not the case.  I merely asked
  14. for something that I had no reason to think could *not* be delivered
  15. and was told "sure."  I was not buying anything.  Had that been the
  16. case a contract would have been in order.  As for a lawsuit, I have
  17. neither the means nor the proof to attempt such a thing even if I
  18. was litigous which I am not.

  20. Yes, I certainly was naive in not covering my ass better.  Guilty as
  21. charged.  I should at the very least have asked for a letter of
  22. intent.  That probably would have exposed the real situation much
  23. sooner as well as giving me some possible means of seeking redress.

  26. Again, as I said in my own followup I do not blame IBM as a company for
  27. this or even the person that gave me the assurance.  I am sure that it
  28. was as inconceivable to that person as it was to me what the situation
  29. really was.  I wonder how many of my critics would have suspected it.
  30. Hindsight is 20/20.  As I said, shit happens.  When I posted originally,
  31. which I wish I hadn't, I was simply enraged and venting my spleen.

  33. I have received several calls and much email asking my opinion on 
  34. whether the DAP is a good program and I wish to say in public without
  35. reservation that it is.  They offered me much assistance including
  36. considerable free marketing help.  I still strongly criticize the
  37. pricing of their development tools but that is the only general
  38. criticism I have.
