- I love OS/2. However, what IBM seems to have done to Mr. Cain is
- appauling. I listen to the people saying "get it in writing," but IBM
- probably would have done the same thing to him.
-
- IBM better lay off the kind of people that cause this kind of thing.
- Unfortunatly, in large companies, the good people get laid off, because
- the underhanded people make it look like nothing is their fault.
-
- If the people who were dealing with him are still employed at IBM,
- I would say that IBM is in serious trouble. If they want respect
- again, they had better earn it, and had better get more down to
- earth, and bust their rears to support and promote OS/2. When
- developers start getting bitten like he did, then development
- eventually stops. Hopefully, IBM's top brass will get some sense,
- and trim the real fat, and make every effort to turn IBM into a
- company that can be trusted, and that has a great track record
- for developer support (customer support is good in my view, but
- that is subject to heavy debate). I have yet to buy C/Set 2 for
- those kinds of reasons. If I am going to buy a compiler (as opposed
- to using emx), I will buy from Borland (if they ever deliver...),
- since I could probably get more support from them [developer] than
- I could from IBM. So, IBM, you have lost a would be developer for
- the time being, and I can not recommend using OS2 as an Applications
- Platform right now to my company. I may in the future, if things improve,
- but for now, it will just be UNIX, even though some of the apps
- would work great on OS/2 -- I just dont want to get bitten.
