  38.      I have a similar system operating here. I use an Adaptec 1542B on 
  39. my 486/50 with the following devices: 
  40.  
  41. Internal Seagate 316mb SCSI Drive at ID0 (Terminated)(End of cable) 
  42. Internal Syquest 88mb removable drive at ID1 (Not Terminated) 
  43. Internal 1542B controller card at ID7 (Default, NOT TERMINATED) 
  44. External Wangtek 5150ES tape drive at ID4 (Terminated) 
  45.  
  46.      With the above setup, if the external tape drive is removed from  
  47. the 1542b, I must fit a SCSI terminator to the outside of the 1542b. 
  48.  
  49. Set the tape drive to ID4 (Unix standard) and the CD-ROM drive to 
  50. ID6 (Again Unix standard). Leave ID0,1,2 & 3 for hard disks. Ensure  
  51. that if the tape drive is external, that the terminators are removed  
  52. from the 1542b. 
  53.  
  54.      Also make sure that the boot device is the end of the SCSI chain 
  55. and is terminated. 
  56.  
  57.      GTAK201B works perfectly on the above setup. SCSI is not as  
  58. simple as people think, and there are some rules that need to be  
  59. followed when setting them up.
