- I am new to OS/2 land and have several hardware questions...
-
- The system it will be installed in is:
-
- Gateway 2000 486/33E (good system, terrible monitor)
- Nec 4DS monitor (i told you it came with a terrible monitor)
- 486/33
- 8Mb ram (soon to be upgraded - what is the most OS/2 can deal with <64Mb?>)
- EISA
- Adaptec 174x SCSI controller
- 340Mb Maxtor drive
- 1.2Gb Fujitsu drive
- Infotel V.everything modem
- misc serial,paralle,etc
-
- 1) Does any one recommend a CDROM drive that:
- a) Does NOT require a carrier to insert a CD
- b) Is supported by IBM in a standard OS/2 release (I don't have good
- ftp access)
- c) Is reasonably fast (>64Kb buffer)
- d) Is reasonably cheap (for home use)
-
- 2) What is good in sound cards... I recently sold my sound blaster because
- the Creative Labs MM starter kit was only slightly more than the upgrade
- kit
- a) Sound blaster functional - MIDI not required
-
- I guess what I am really looking for is a good MM kit with CDROM, Sound card,
- that is easy to install and use with OS/2...
