- (I've been away for awhile and only scanned subjects, so pardon me if this
- is old news.)
-
- I've found a way to get 256 color OS/2 bitmaps from 256 color GIFs without
- palette messups. (PCX and Windows bitmaps should work too, but I haven't
- tried them. And the nonexistence of palette messups is not guaranteed.)
- In a word, Fractint. I have Fractint for OS/2 2.0 version 17.2 (from Hobbes),
- and it works fine. From the File menu, open a file and select GIF (or
- whatever) from the radio buttons. The picture will be messed up, but that's
- OK. Select 'Save As' from the File menu, and save your image as an OS/2
- bitmap and you're done! I had some problems with interlaced GIFs, so I saved
- them as normal GIFs using the Windows program WinGIF.
