  21. No.  The reason the patch works is that many drives work the same way,
  22. and the driver is checking the manufacturer ID to gurantee
  23. compatibility.  It's like DOS's SETVER command - you don't make
  24. something compatible, you just fake the system into thinking it is.
  25. And the driver does NOT support non-SCSI drives.

  27. Not to mention that IBM's current driver supports many more drives
  28. now, so the patch really shouldn't be necessary.
