- No. The reason the patch works is that many drives work the same way,
- and the driver is checking the manufacturer ID to gurantee
- compatibility. It's like DOS's SETVER command - you don't make
- something compatible, you just fake the system into thinking it is.
- And the driver does NOT support non-SCSI drives.

- Not to mention that IBM's current driver supports many more drives
- now, so the patch really shouldn't be necessary.
