  27. I found it a real pain, but the recommended procedure from IBM appears to
  28. continue to be to reformat when installing a beta version over anything 
  29. (including a previous beta) and when installing a released version over a
  30. beta.  In the past I've done that.  This time I learned that it was
  31. necessary.  I had all kinds of problems when I tried to short circuit
  32. the problem.  However, having said that, I'm still glad I have the
  33. beta.  I already like it better.  There was a lot of customization to be
  34. redone and files to be restored in my case.  Before GA, I kept the system
  35. partition clean and a reformat was not a problem.  I have crept away from
  36. that policy since GA.
