- I found it a real pain, but the recommended procedure from IBM appears to
- continue to be to reformat when installing a beta version over anything
- (including a previous beta) and when installing a released version over a
- beta. In the past I've done that. This time I learned that it was
- necessary. I had all kinds of problems when I tried to short circuit
- the problem. However, having said that, I'm still glad I have the
- beta. I already like it better. There was a lot of customization to be
- redone and files to be restored in my case. Before GA, I kept the system
- partition clean and a reformat was not a problem. I have crept away from
- that policy since GA.
