- Ok friends. I just got OS/2 and I have a few questions.
- I don't think this bares any relvance BUT I'll list my system:
- 486 DX 33 (ISA) with 16 megs of ram, ATI VGA wonder, 175 meg hard drive,
- Sound blaster pro with CD-rom, internal 9600 Zoom modem.
- OS2 2.0 dos upgrade using FAT system
- (well, some of that might be important).
-
- 1. How do I get procom for Windows working again?
- I installed os/2. (I was quite happy that it went in without a hitch)
- I migrated all my dos and window programs. Procom worked great in down loads
- and uploads with about 1000 cps using Z modem while playing the dos game
- Willy Beamish. (I "might" solve that one day! :) Later, while exploring, I
- accdently deleted the append program fromm my mdos directory. I read, looked
- at online help, banged my head, looked at the disk but I couldn't figure
- out how to get it back. (It was giving an anoyying error but still allows
- dos programs to run.) Ok, so the only way to get it back was to do a selective
- install. So I( re-installed the dos-win0s2 and the program returened and
- the error message went away. Later, I went into Procomm for wndows and it came
- back and said that all the important dlls were missing. What the!!!??? ok,
- I can see how weird thing could happen, so I deleted it and reinstalled
- procomm. Fine, no problem. Then I go to run it and it says, not a Win-OS2,
- please run as dos or os2.???? Like, I have the option? (I looked and it didn't
- allow me to alter what it could be in the settings) So, I go into
- win-os2, guesse what? It says it has no shell and throws me back into os2.
- Short of deleting os2, the girl, the goldwatch and everything I'm not
- sure what to do. ANY suggtions?? at all???

- 2. Ok, to get my soundblaster CD-rom to work, I have to boot a Virtual
- machine of dos 5 because my msdex.exe file requires dos 5.00 it seems. I
- try to run it under os/2 dos and it says wrong dos version. Is there
- some way I could fix it to run? I hate running under VM under drive A due to
- it likes to read the floppy for some strange reason at bad times. I run a BBS
- and while it works great under os/2 from a dos window, floppy drive access
- tends to slow things up. Any suggestions?
-
- 3. When I exit out of a program from dos, it sometimes locks up. Is there
- anyway to xkill the process without a shut down or attempting to delete it?
- Specifically with Wolfienstien 3d. (shareware demo version)
-
- Thanks very much
