  25. McDonalds is protecting its trademarks from dilution by preventing those who
  26. have the rights to use them - its franchisees - from selling products that
  27. would confuse the public. Any franchisee who were to do so would be linking
  28. McDonalds and Wendy's in the minds of the public, and that severely damages
  29. the value of the McD trademark suite.
