  13.     I am thinking of replacing my 24pin dot-matrix printer with a low-end
  14. ($600 or less) Laser/LED/Jet printer. Something that has been more or
  15. less proven to work with Win3.1.
  16.     I have considered the following:
  17.         1-  HP's DeskJet-500, for ~$300
  18.         2-  Panasonic KX-P4410 laser printer ~$600
  19.         3-  OKIDATA-400 LED printer ~$600
  20.  
  21.     My first choice (being stingy :-)) was the $300 HP's DeskJet-500.
  22. But when I tried a demo unit, the print was a bit foggy. Is this 
  23. what I can expect from a $300 printer or was it the demo unit? I would
  24. be interested to hear from people who have used this printer.

  26.     Also, I would like any feedback on my other choices (Like
  27. how better/worse is a LED from a Laser, when both are advertised as
  28. 300dpi) or any other printers you may have in mind.

  30.     Since I can't afford Postscript, what is the standard I should
  31. look for? I hear PCL, HP-IIP etc.

  33.     What are the hidden costs (Cartridge etc?). How much memory
  34. is sufficient etc.
