  13. My girlfriend owns a dinsosaur of an IBM compatible.  She purchased it
  14. in 1987 and has lost the manual for it.  I opened it up to install a
  15. modem and it does have an Intel 8088 chip.  So we are definatley
  16. talking XT compat.

  18. I wanted to uprgrade the DOS she's running to 4.01 from 3.09 but
  19. can't.  She has one 5.25" drive and a 20meg internal hard drive.  The
  20. installation always crashes (it just freezes) when I am propted to
  21. switch from the SELECT disk to back to the INSTALL disk.  The manual
  22. says that 4.01 is supported by some XT systems--maybe this isn't one
  23. of them.  Perhaps I have to monkey around with the SYS.CONFIG?
