- Perhaps your problem does not have anything to do with DR DOS 6.0 or
- its EMM386.SYS or SuperSTOR: You do not mention which soundcard, if any,
- you use, but this weekend I found that I got a scenario similar to yours
- (i.e. a system hang after a short sound when trying a stroke) *if*
-
- - I do *not* have a links.cfg file,
-
- *and*
-
- - I use the *default* configuration for my Soundblaster (i.e. the
- default hardware configuration for the card itself and the default SB
- configuration for Links (non-386)).
-
- If I do have a links.cfg file, configured for the default SB
- configuration, then I get a system hang after a very short part of the
- intro music.
-
- Reason:
-
- The default hardware configuration for the SB, as set by the factory,
- uses interrupt number 7 (IRQ7), but Links uses *another* default (forgot
- which, I think 3). You can change the interrupt number that Links uses
- with the "SELECT SOUND BLASTER INTERUPT NUMBER" [sic] menu of the
- SETBLAST program. Select choice 4, IRQ7.
-
- If this does not help, then first try with Links set to use the PC
- speaker and let us know the results. If you have a SB, then you can also
- configure Links for Adlib mode. In Adlib mode the IRQ setting is
- apparently not relevant.

-
- For my 2MB 386DX (HP Vectra QS/16) with DRDOS 6.0 and SSTORed D
- partition :
-
- DEVICE=C:\DRDOS\EMM386.SYS /F=AUTO /K=AUTO /B=FFFF /R=AUTO
-
- With this configuration Links defaults to use expanded memory.
-
- Hope this helps.
