- Hello.
-
- I'm a relative newcomer to Linux but I have about 3 years of Unix under my
- belt.
-
- I'm currently expiriencing a situation which has perplexed me greatly for a few
- weeks now and I was wondering if anyone else has expirienced it/knows a fix..
-
- Whenever I port an X app, it compiles flawlessly (or with changes so minor as
- not to even be worth mentioning). but when I go to run it it inevitably dies
- with SIGALRM directly upon startup. Usually after displaying its opening screen/
- prompt.
-
- I read the Linux FAQ, and found nothing SPECIFICALLY geared to this problem,
- however, there IS an entry which mentions "OLD" versions of Bash sending SIGALRM
- to their children...
-
- I have version 1.12.4 of Bash for Linux (the one that came with SLS 0.98 pl5)
- and notice that the binary versions of Bash that I see on FTP sites are 1.12
- as well.. I can't get the FSF Bash to compile straight off prep.ai.mit.edu
- (it tries to compile itself as if it were on a USG system and fails. ) so I
- don't know what to do..
-
- To reduce my query down to a simple question: Has *ANYONE* expirienced this same
- problem, and if so did you find a solution? if you did, perhaps this should be
- added to the FAQ?
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Chris Patti
