- I have been following the news group for a while. It is very interesting,
- active, and rewarding. I have some questions. Hope somebody out there can
- help me.
- 1. From what I read, linux can run both on ISA and EISA. I am wondering if
- linux will take advantage of 32 bits EISA bus.
- 2. Linux uses 386 memory management intensively. I am wondering if linux
- will be able to run on new chips, say P5 (Intel) and 586 (Cyruss, maybe
- the spelling is wrong?)
- 3. Two of my friends have 486. Another friend of mine will buy two 486 some
- time this month. We are interested in doing some experiement with linux
- First, we want to network PCs through ether net. One machine runs as
- network server, other machines run as individual nodes on the network.
- We want to test ftp, rlogin, telnet, UUCP, email, etc.
- Second, we want to network PCs through ether net. One machine runs as
- file server, other machines run diskless. We want to test NFS, X window,
- etc.
- I am wondering if it is possible to do above two experiements. Does SLS
- include all the softwares for above experiements?
- I am not in computer science. But I like to hack computer around. So if there
- is something I posted, looks stupid from the viewpoint of computer science,
- I apologize in advance. Hope to hear your opions.
- Thanks
