- I am having problems being able to log in on my ZyXEL 1496E. I recently
- upgraded my libraries (libc.4.2) and compiler gcc 2.3.3 as well as
- the kernel 99pl2. I am using uugetty on both my modem ports. I have
- a 2400 generic hayes modem which works fine for logins, and I have
- a ZyXEL 1496E on my other port. The problem is when someone tries to
- call in on the zyxel, they get a connection just fine at all baud rates
- and protocols etc, the /etc/issue file is displayed just fine, and
- they are prompted with the
- `
- draco login:
-
- prompt. Now, it doesn't matter what you type, anything typed will
- be accepted up until you press return, then the user gets dumped! The
- modem just hangs up and respawns getty. Now I thought it might be
- the uugetty itself so I recompiled, but that didn't help. Also the fact
- that it works fine on my other modem is suggesting that it might be
- either the modem, or something to do with the serial code in the kernel.
-
- Also, to let you know, I uucp out on the zyxel at v32b and have no problems
- whatsoever. I also use it to dial out from xcomm, and I've used it in
- DOS with no problems. It's been real reliable, so I wouldn't figure it
- was hardware related.
-
- If anyone has ANY ideas or suggestions, please let me know. It is
- frustrating having a crippled incoming line.
