  13. I'm just bringing up Linux, I have the SLS .95p5 version.  All is well,
  14. I finally got X-Windows running after a few rounds with the clock stuff!
  15. I have yet to figure out how to get LILO to boot from the hard drive,
  16. perhaps someone here could lend a hand.  Let me start by saying that I'm
  17. a Unix neophyte, though I have lots of DOS & mainframe experience.  The
  18. system I'm currently using is:

  20. 386DX-20, 8mb RAM, 80387, 100mb Quantum IDE drive, T4000 VGA.

  22. I have the entire drive dedicated to Linux, split 50/50 since I was
  23. limited to 64mb partitions.  With this rig, could someone step me
  24. through what I need to do to get it booting from the hard drive?

  26. Another question is about the file system, I'd like to get this thing
  27. all in a single partition, is that possible with the enhanced file
  28. system?  How stable is it, should I go with it, or stay with the
  29. current one?

  31. I'm also looking for the best backup alternative, I'd like to be able
  32. to back this up with a reasonable procedure, what alternatives exist
  33. for backup?

  35. Any help will, of course, be appreciated.  BTW, the SLS distribution
  36. is almost idiot proof, many thanks to the folks that put that together.
