- Hi,
-
- I'm just bringing up Linux, I have the SLS .95p5 version. All is well,
- I finally got X-Windows running after a few rounds with the clock stuff!
- I have yet to figure out how to get LILO to boot from the hard drive,
- perhaps someone here could lend a hand. Let me start by saying that I'm
- a Unix neophyte, though I have lots of DOS & mainframe experience. The
- system I'm currently using is:
-
- 386DX-20, 8mb RAM, 80387, 100mb Quantum IDE drive, T4000 VGA.
-
- I have the entire drive dedicated to Linux, split 50/50 since I was
- limited to 64mb partitions. With this rig, could someone step me
- through what I need to do to get it booting from the hard drive?
-
- Another question is about the file system, I'd like to get this thing
- all in a single partition, is that possible with the enhanced file
- system? How stable is it, should I go with it, or stay with the
- current one?
-
- I'm also looking for the best backup alternative, I'd like to be able
- to back this up with a reasonable procedure, what alternatives exist
- for backup?
-
- Any help will, of course, be appreciated. BTW, the SLS distribution
- is almost idiot proof, many thanks to the folks that put that together.
- If I can install it, anyone can. :-)
