  12. I've narrowed the choice of what system I will buy on which to run
  13. Linux to two and now wish to make a final decision between the Gateway
  14. 2000 486DX2-66V and the Zeos 486DX2-66 VESA Local Bus System.  The
  15. systems seem comparable in terms of performance, features and cost in
  16. terms of my needs and budget.  I will be buying only a system unit
  17. (i.e. motherboard, processor, memory, etc. within a tower case) and
  18. hard disk but no monitor nor graphics card from one of these two
  19. vendors.

  21. I want to base my final decision on the overall quality of systems put
  22. together by the two vendors, in particular, how well these two
  23. specific machines are built, how well and how reliably Linux has been known

  25. to perform on each of the machines and in addition take into account the

  27. reputation of each vendor in terms of service and support.

  29. I would appreciate any comments, praise or grief from Linux users who
  30. have chosen these machines.  I plan to summerize that which I receive
  31. together with a promised summary of a previous post early next week.
