- Here are my symptoms:
-
-
- Ok finanlly I played with the FAQ and tcpip. Still I have nothing going.
- I am running .99-2 with the tcpip option and no network card. i
-
- I try to telnet to myself and I get:
- Trying...
- telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Network is unreachable
-
- If I simply type "telnet" and try to display the operating paramters
- I dump core.
-
- I created/edited the files the FAQ mentioned and also ran the install.net
- script. I have the files that were specified in /etc and softlinks from
- them to /usr/etc/inet just in case. I have the following files in
- etc,/usr/etc/inet:
-
- README.tcpip hosts mtools rc telnetd*
- bak/ inetd* named* rc.local* termcap
- config* inetd.conf named-xfer* rc.net termcap.bak
- dead.letter init* named.hosts rc.net.orig ttytype
- disktab inittab named.local rc.new* update*
- fdprm install.net* named.reload* securetty utmp
- fstab issue named.restart* services uugetty*
- getty* lilo/ passwd shadow wtmp
- getty.script* login.defs printcap shadow-
- gettydefs magic profile shells
- gettytab motd profile.edit startcons*
- group mtab psdatabase talkd*
-
- The talk/talkd, telnet/telnetd were sources I must have grabbed a month
- back.
-
- One more thing, when I try to talk to myself on another tty I get:
-
- [Error on write to talk daemon: Network is unreachable (101)]
-
- I really don't know where to go from here, I followed the faq word for word
- twice.
