  14. i am trying to install linux 
  15. but got lots of errors after i inserted the A3 disk.

  17. it says:

  19.     magic match failed
  20.     no bmap support....

  22. which is normal as mentioned in SLS.FAQ

  24. but then i keep on getting error when the installation program trying to
  25. decompress the tar files...

  29. installing base... tar: Skipping to next file header...
  30. tar: child died with signal 11 (core dumped)
  31. done

  33. installing devs... tar: Unexpected EOF on archive file
  34. tar: child died with signal 11 (core dumped)

  37. installing faq... tar: child died with signal 11 (core dumped)

  40. and then i keep on feeding in A4, B1, B2, ... etc and similar errors come
  41. up when untaring the files...

  44. installing xxxx ... tar: hm... this doesn't seem like a tar file...
  45. something like that!

  47. what's wrong?  i formatted every disk (MS DOS 5.0) before i copied the
  48. stuff i got from the a,b,c,t,x directories into them.  it seems like to
  49. me that the system is not recognizing the tar files.  what has happened?
