  10. System: Linux 0.99.1 w/libc.so.4.2 obtained from tsx-11
  11.         before the *very* latest HJ release.  SLS X disks
  12.         obtained from tsx-11 mid- to late-October.  Using
  13.         X386mono on a normal VGA board.

  15. Symptoms: X clients (most, not all) dumping core
  16.           w/segmentation violations.  Some run fine.
  17.  
  18.     Has anyone experienced these problems?  Some of my X
  19. clients (xmaze) seem to work fine but other, more important,
  20. ones (xterm :) simply dump core whenever I start them up.
  21. They exit with segmentation violations.  Even when I try to
  22. start them in text mode (you should get a message like
  23. "Can't open display") they just dump core.

  25.     I am running a somewhat older release of libc.4.2 (came
  26. from tsx-11.mit.edu:/pub/linux/packages/GCC/libc.so.4.2.Z.
  27. I have no problems with this libc in any of my text-mode
  28. apps.  Is this the culprit or is it the older SLS X disks?
  29. There are no telltale error messages from the stderr of the
  30. X server (not even the core dump messages!?).
