- Linux has a graphics library (vgalib) that allows it to have
- graphics without booting X or MGR. It is being presented as a standard
- for doing graphics on the console under Linux.
-
- I was thinking that it would be great to make a call-compatible
- vga library for doing console graphics under Coherent. That way, programs
- developed for either platform should run fine. Right now, the vgalib is
- pretty simple but includes most everything you need graphics-wise. I
- could provide a list of functions if someone with the DDK would like to
- try a port. It has been written to support SVGA only so one doesn't have
- to worry about configuring for the wild array of graphics hardware. All
- modes are currently 640x480 and under.
-
- E-mail me if you want more information. This just seems like a
- good way to make porting easier and I'm sure a lot of people would like
- a graphics library for Coherent without needing X or MGR.
