  11. I have sent mail to POSTMASTER@ATTMAIL.COM and I have received
  12. no reply yet.  Maybe someone out there can answer this one...

  14. I have several friends that get their net mail via ATTMAIL.COM.
  15. Also, at work, my company uses ATTMAIL.COM to get mail into a VAX
  16. based mail system.  In all cases, when I receive mail at any of
  17. my net accounts around the country, from my friends who are stuck
  18. using ATTMAIL.COM, the reply address in their message is
  19. incorrect.

  21. For example, if a friends mail address is

  23.    mhs!bigcorp/g=john/s=doe@attmail.com

  25. when John Doe sends me a message, the reply address in that
  26. message will be

  28.    bigcorp/g=john/s=doe@mhs.attmail.com

  30. If I reply to this address, ATTMAIL.COM will bounce the message and
  31. say that MHS is an UNKNOWN DOMAIN or UNKNOWN HOST.  What gives here?

  33. It seems to me that ATTMAIL.COM must know what/who MHS is
  34. otherwise why would it need it to deliever mail to BIGCORP?  And
  35. why would ATTMAIL.COM not understand a reply address it probably
  36. generated itself?
