  15. Cellular One in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina is offering
  16. a new feature on most of their calling plans.

  18. In addition to whatever monthly charge you are currently paying, for
  19. an extra $10 they will give you unlimited airtime on the weekends
  20. (defined as 11:59pm Friday to 12:01am Monday) for all calls made (or
  21. received) while in your local calling area.  The only charges incurred
  22. would be for directory assistance or long distance land charges.

  24. Off-peak minutes with C1 go as low as $.20/minute with some plans (and
  25. are often more than that) so the break-even point is 50 minutes (or
  26. less).

  28. Any ideas why they'd just open the floodgates like this?

  30. As an aside, Centel (the only competitor in this market) is not
  31. matching the program or even coming up with something remotely close.
