- There may be another solution to your problem.
- This comes untried as something for you to test.
-
- It is possible to run 2 decnet area routers in one box.... we do this
- in the Netherlands on SPAN to translate from European SPAN to SurfNET.
- This involves the use of an address translation gateway.
-
-
- The relevant commands are:
- decnet 0 routing area1
- decnet 0 node-type area
-
- decnet 1 routing area2
- decnet 1 node-type area
-
- A little bit of though will show you that it is impossible for an interface
- to have 2 decnet addresses (due to phase iv changing the MAC address)
- However, you could try using 2 Ethernet interfaces on the cisco connected
- to the same physical segment. Please do this on a test segment!!!!!
- I have no idea how nodes will react to seeing 2 level 1 routers
- on the same segment (e.g. how will they elect a designated router)
-
- Any feedback will be greatly appreciated (including constructive flamage)
