- I need to know what Hayes Compatible really means. I beleive that
- it relates only to the support of the AT command set. The question I
- have if it also encompasses the response codes and the timing of the
- responses.
-
- Specifically:
-
- Sending a dial sequence to a "hayes compatible" modem:
-
- ATDT9,xxxxxxxx,,,,,xxxx#,;
-
- This is a sequence for a dialing a pager. The pauses are there for the
- delay before entering a pager code and then putting the modem in
- command mode.
-
- The problem is the modem will echo the sequence and immediately
- give an OK response before dialing the number. Other "hayes compatible"
- modems will not give the OK until the complete number is dialed.
-
- Its easy enough to code around but a pain when coding for any
- "hayes compatible" modem.
-
- Does anyone know if both can be considered Hayes compatible or if there
- is more to it than the AT command set.
-
- My thanks to any constructive responses.
