  24.    I thought that I was having a similar problem, but a USR Dual Standard had 
  25. the same problem.  Turns out that my phone line had nasty distortion on the 
  26. receive end.  I've been spoiled by my Telebit T1000, which never complained 
  27. and, when queried as to line quality, described some frequency ranges as 
  28. imperfect. <grin>
