- Your friend is mistaken. The V-9600 uses a modulation which is based on,
- but not compatible with, V.32. I understand that for some time there was a
- possibility that it would be standardized as V.32HDX (half duplex V.32), but
- it never happened and a Hayes V-Series Smartmodem 9600 will speak at high
- speed only to another of its kind.
