- About that noisy power problem and the modem on the SPARC-
-
- It turns out that the problem is related to thermal and/or power
- sensitivity. After substituting the surge protector/filter,
- the modem still acted a little flakey. I suspected thermal
- problems, and took the modem out if its case to try to keep it cool
- (I had noticed that the modem worked better if I shut it off for
- a few minutes and turned it back on). After this, it worked like
- a champ. No problems at all, every connection was negotiated
- correctly. Multiple dialers tried the dial-in and got good
- connections too.
-
- Looks like I got a marginal board. I think I'll verify the problem
- is thermal and give Digicom support a call.
