- I recently got a U-1496E which I am very happy with.
- Someone posted recently an article detailing the voice mode capabilities.
- I have read it thoroughly but any attempts to put it into practice have been
- complete failures.
-
- Could someone who has a working setup please send me instructions?
-
- Don't assume too much knowledge, I am a complete newcomer to the world
- of modems.
-
- What I have tried so far :
-
- Plugged a phone into the line jack.
- (Using kermit)
- at+fclass=8
- at+vsm=2
- at+vls=8
- at+vrx
-
- --------At this point all hell breaks loose - with garbage being sent to the screen.
- --------The phone is still dead, so the garbage can't be coming from the phone.
-
- Also, am I right in saying that <dle><dtx> can be sent from kermit by :
- ^\\16 and ^\\3 ?
-
- And lastly, I am in th UK, hence my UK phone is plugged in via an adaptor.
-
- Furthermore, my modem is plugged into a BT Renown system. (A kind of private
- exchange). The implications of this are that my modem and a phone have to be
- plugged into a socket doubler to allow me to access an outside line.
-
- ie When I want to dial out, I lift the phone, press 'R' and then dial using
- the terminal (atdt.....) and replace the handset when the modem has taken
- over.
-
- I can't press 'R' when the phone is plugged into the modem directly and I don't
- know how to simulate pressing an 'R' from, for example, kermit.
-
- I don't know if that is of any relevance.
-
- Thanks for any help,
-
- Scott.
