- For the last several months, I had been happy with my Supra. I had used it
- mainly for outgoing UUCP calls. However, my UUCP feed went away, so
- I had to look for a new feed.
-
- It turns out that my Supra (all Supras?) are so sensitive to the quality
- of the line that of the four feeds offered to me, the modem would
- connect to NOT ONE! All the modems were Telebits, but so was the modem
- that I used to connect to at 9600 baud, 20 miles away, with no problems
- several times a day. When I say it won't connect, I either connect for
- a short time and then get disconnected or It won't connect at all or
- it will only connect at 2400 baud, etc.
-
- BTW, I am using the old ROMs because the new ones (H) would not allow
- my FAXes to work anymore. And I couldn't use the renegotiation
- stuff anyway because UUCP doen't like that.
-
- So, unless someone thinks that the problem is either my modem or some
- obscure configuration (I am an active reader of this group, so I have
- tried almost evrything), I am selling my Supra and am going to buy
- a real modem. Like a ZyXel or perhaps a Telebit (if I can take out a
- 2nd mortgage:-).
-
- Any takers?
