- I'm an owner of a Telebit WorldBlazer, along with a friend of mine, and we've
- never had any problems with Telebit support or their products. We recommend
- them to business associates, and use them in our installations.
-
- Remember folks... READ the advertisement, and ask questions that are
- important before BUYING. Ask the person on the other side of the phone
- whether or not the product comes with the software you're hoping it does!
- If it doesn't COME with the software, find out HOW MUCH YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT,
- so you don't have to BITCH about how much it costs after you've already spent
- your money ...
-
- This idea applies to a lot of complaints I've heard about the WorldBlazer
- FAX upgrade. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest...
-
- But the main reason for this is... I've found a few interesting things about
- the 7.01 ROM upgrades for the WorldBlazer (and I would imaging these ROMs are
- the same as the T3000).
-
- 1) There are no new &R values. They've been there since the 5.00w ROMs I had
- previously, and they're listed in the WorldBlazer Addendum I got when I
- upgraded from the T3000 to the WorldBlazer.
-
- 2) There are new registers at 113 114 and 115. Use ~H for a HELP listing. Nice
- feature. One of these registers enables calling tones. These are the tones
- that FAX machines emit when dialing up to another FAX machine. These are
- also the tones that FAX "switches" use to shunt a call to a FAX machine
- instead of ringing the phone. This works without the FAX upgrade, I have
- a vanilla WorldBlazer.
-
- 3) Lot's of things have been fixed since the last revision I had (5.00w). It
- seems I get a lot less retrains, and hung UUCP sessions.
-
- Notice I don't have the FAX upgrade in my WorldBlazer. I already have a Zoom
- V.32bis FAX modem (albeit buggy)... I will eventually get the FAX upgrade,
- but not before I get netfax to compile under SVR4!!!
-
- And another thing... These addendums are actually quite handy. If I need
- to look at PEP type stuff, I know to look in the WorldBlazer Addendum. If
- I need to look at the type of stuff available on other modems (V.32bis, etc.)
- I know to look in the original manual. It is a little awkward, but since I
- got the upgrade from the T3000 to the WorldBlazer for nothing, I'm not
- going to complain.
-
- Too bad you never hear from satisfied customers here on the net until they
- get fed up with the complainers... I've even had GOOD luck with a Zoom modem!!
- Imagine hearing about that on this newsgroup!!!
