- Read: "Most people who think something's wrong with their modem are silly
- dips who don't know how to configure it." Find a BBS network (such as
- WWIVnet) with a networked PPI support SIG, and read the messages for a good
- laugh. 50% are posts by or to people who don't RTFM. Another 10% are
- people who kill their modems and then refuse to admit it's their fault since
- they're "computer professionals with several years experience" (and so,
- can do no wrong). :)

-
- PPI typically ships upgrades the same day, if you're located in the U.S.,
- you should receive it in 3-4 days. In the large envelope (read the packing
- list on the outside, the prices are amusing) there should be 2 xeroxed
- pages on how to install your new EPROM, and a small padded envelope (not
- sealed). Inside the small envelope, in a static-bag, is the EPROM, with
- the prongs in a pink foam thingie.
-
- Once you've installed your new EPROM, you put the old one in the foam, in
- the static bag, and in the padded envelope - which, conveniently, has a
- return label so you can mail it to PPI. They recycle the EPROMS.
-
- A suggestion: Do NOT send your old EPROM back immediately. PPI is not
- really going to notice. Run for a week with your new EPROM to make sure it
- works. Put it through its paces. Once you're satisfied it's fine, send
- back the old one. This way, if the new one has a problem, you're not up
- the creek.
