- I also agree that $25 is too much for a $100 modem, it seems that PPI
- might have a flat rate for return shipping/handling across their whole
- line of modems. I really wouldn't mind putting up $25 in the event my
- modem croaks (I got the 14400FX internal for $329), considering I'd likely
- be sent a brand-spanking-new one. However, they wouldn't be justified in
- charging (proportionally) more to ship/handle a $100 pocket modem because
- they have to repair 'somewhat miniaturized technology', this makes it seem
- as if one is paying for warranty repair.
-
- Incidentally, I came across this in my manual: "Most products returned to
- Practical Peripherals for repair are found to be in proper working
- condition."
-
- btw, I (finally) just ordered the ROM upgrade and updated fax software from
- PPI Tech Support. Will I have to return the old ROM? And I know someone
- mentioned this before (Shag?) but how soon can I expect the upgrade to
- arrive? (I'm not that impatient - just curious!)
-
- Cheers
