  12.     Forgive me of some of y'all have posted similar articals 
  13. about Dallas FAX, but I don't read this group regularly and need 
  14. vent!

  16. My story:
  17.     Back in July of '92, I saw an add for a VoiceMail-9600-
  18. FAXBoard modem for $300 from a company called Dallas FAX, and
  19. thought it was too good to be true.  As it turns out (6 mo. later)
  20. it was.
  21.     When I ordered the modem they told me it was vapor hardware, 
  22. but would be available within ONE MONTH.  This began a series of 
  23. phone calls and letters in which Dallas FAX kept postponing the 
  24. shipment of this modem.  Finally about 3 mo. ago one of their sales
  25. people called me up and told me he would send me the 2400 bps version
  26. for $200, and allow me to upgrade in DECEMBER for the diffence of 
  27. $100.
  28.     Well today (the 4th of Jan.) I finally called and spoke with
  29. a very unsympathetic gentleman by the name of Tom Right.  He had the
  30. audacity to cut short some of my complaints with:

  32.     "Read the fine print" (refering to the "prices subject to change"
  33.                    at the bottom of all their adds)
  34. and dismissed my upgrade promise by saying:
  35. "A verbal agreement is not worth anything."
  36.  
  37.     Tom Right went on to that he would "as a gesture of good will"
  38. upgrade me to the new 9600-v32bis version for $189, and it SHOULD be
  39. available in MARCH!
  40.  
  41.     I IMPLORE ANY OF YOU THAT DO NOT WISH TO REWARD THIS KIND OF 
  42. CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT TO DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.
