- Hi. I need to learn about networks to make myself
- more attractive to employers.
- Therefore, I have decided to install a simple network in my
- home, consisting of a unix system running sco unix v3.2.4, tcp-ip
- nfs and ethernet, and 2 dos systems running pc-nfs.
- The question is:
- is this a good way to get hands on experience with networking?
- if so, is this a reasonable network to learn on?
- Where do I get pc-nfs and tcp-ip for dos?
- What do i need in the way of hardware, boards, cables, tee's, and
- terminators?
- what is a good supplier of the necessary hardware?
-
- I have done sys admin for 6 years, but the company where i worked didn't
- have any networks. it was on an amdahl running uts.
- I am currently unemployed and all companies i have contacted, seem to want
- network experience.
- thanks for any help.
- Phil
