- Bear in mind that you're going to need a decidedly fast processor -- well
- beyond what you normally find in embedded controllers -- to be able to
- make much use of that bandwidth. A 68HC05 with an on-chip Ethernet port
- wouldn't be very useful... better to just put a serial interface on the
- chip and run a wire to an Ethernet host's serial port.

- That aside... I expect it's coming. But I don't know of anyone who's
- actually done it yet. A decent Ethernet controller is a lot of chip
- area, especially since you also need a good bit of RAM to make real
- use of it. On a more pragmatic note, even the simplest 10BaseT hookup
- takes rather more pins than an ordinary serial line, and embedded
- controllers tend to be pin-starved.
