  25. A mailing list has been set up to discuss matters pertaining to
  26. the database system SiR. SiR is a product of SiR (Australia) Inc.

  29. WHAT IS A MAILING LIST

  31. Mailing lists are a method of electronic communication.  The concept is that
  32. by mailing to one "person" a letter is distributed to many, many people with
  33. the one action.  Replies to a "posting" are again distributed to many
  34. people.  This allows many people to carry on a discussion on a particular
  35. subject matter.  Mail lists are often used in place of BBS (Bulletin Board
  36. Systems) some popular or widely used mailing lists are often merged into a
  37. BBS.

  40. TO POST TO THE MAILING LIST

  42. To send a letter to all members of the list, send mail to 
  43.     sir@ctrg.rri.uwo.ca
  44. The mail will then be distributed to all members of the list.

  49. When you reply to a letter, or posting, the reply goes to all the members of
  50. the list and NOT the person who originated the letter.  If you wish to talk
  51. to ONLY that person, there should be an Originator:  line stating who sent
  52. the message.

  54. If you wish the mail to be private then addresss your reply to the person
  55. listed on the Originator:  line.
