- harddrives and floppies do use different medium and different methods of
- access. On a fixed disk, the heads do not touch the platters (well, the
- ones on my old ide do, but that's a different matter :-), where as on a
- floppy, the heads do ride on the surface.

- If a floppy has a material defect that results in a bad sector, it IS more
- statistically likely that more defects will develop through use (mainly
- because of physical wear-and-tear and the floppy).

- I recommend to anyone who has any need for data integrity to throw away
- ANY disk that has a bad sector in it. I'm sure there have been studies
- that prove this point, but I must admit that I don't have any references
- handy. If you have doubts, check you local library.
