  17. Floppy drives and their cables on IBM compatibles were designed to be
  18. installable by end-users.  As shipped by the factory MOST drives do not
  19. need to be addressed to anything other than as shipped.  A twist exists
  20. in the middle of the cables to effect the necessary address for the
  21. drive.  Each drive is effectively set to an address appropriate to its
  22. connector's position on the entire cable.
