- Floppy drives and their cables on IBM compatibles were designed to be
- installable by end-users. As shipped by the factory MOST drives do not
- need to be addressed to anything other than as shipped. A twist exists
- in the middle of the cables to effect the necessary address for the
- drive. Each drive is effectively set to an address appropriate to its
- connector's position on the entire cable.
