- I hear that PKWARE is getting an examption, or an injuction, or
- whatever to export excepting some totalitarian countries like Iraq.
-
- >Yes, I know garbo is in Finland and not subject to US laws but I'm just

-
- I am not a lawyer, but, worse still, an accountant. :-)
-
- What I say next does not intend the slightest of offence to anyone.
-
- While meaning well, North American users often pose in this respect
- more xenophobic questions than they might realize, even when they
- state like you do that the US law do not apply in Finland. We get
- material from all over the world to Garbo. Taken to the extremes I
- would have to know the legislation and aberrations of each and every
- country that can somehow reach Garbo through the net. That is
- impossible. So is it fair that I should somehow be privy to US
- regulations in particular? What makes them so special (a rhetorical
- question).
-
- I can assure you that I am a law abiding citizen, and I try to
- comply with the Finnish and the international laws. But I have
- never seen any information on the international validity of this US
- per se absurd export law. And until someone officially convinces me
- otherwise, I consider this debacle an entirely internal US problem.
- (Perhaps I should coldly say that until officially approached, it is
- none of my business).
-
- I live in Finland and interact with the international community. US
- is just one part of the latter, even if it often is an important and
- a dominant part.
-
- I have redirected potential followups to misc.legal.computing.
-
- In the best of spirits, and meaning well:
-
- All the best, Timo
