  29. SYMPOSIUM:  IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the
  30. Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport
  31. Beach, California.  The symposium is sponsored by IEEE
  32. Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  33. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists
  34. from around the world to present the latest research
  35. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed
  36. processing.

  38. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the
  39. symposium (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the
  40. I/O bottleneck facing parallel computer systems for many
  41. important applications such as multimedia information
  42. systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of the
  43. importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and
  44. proposed solutions include approaches based upon new
  45. hardware, architecture, systems software and algorithms.
  46. The workshop will bring together researchers in order to
  47. foster further research on these approaches and their
  48. integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  50. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished
  51. research.  Topics of interest include, but are not limited
  52. to:
  53.  
  54.     High-speed storage and channels            
  55.     I/O interconnection architectures
  56.     Concurrent file systems
  57.     Compiler support for parallel I/O            
  58.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  59.     Data and resource allocation
  60.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  61.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  62.  
  63. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  64. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  65. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  66. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  67. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  68. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  69. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  70. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
