- I'm not sure about other folks, but in my state the Board of Regents has
- the opinion that faculty members who make public statements should NOT
- be identified as faculty members. (Especially if that opinion differs
- from whatever is currently in political favor.) Their (unwarrented) fear is
- that the general public will perceive an individual faculty member as
- speaking for the entire institution, or possibly the State. (Note: they
- don't seem to care if you say something that is politically correct. In
- fact, you may even be rewarded for it.) Since I'm never sure where the
- political winds are blowing, or who in South Dakota might read and take
- exception to my words, I include a disclaimer.
